As a retired Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Social Worker, Mayola worked in the Washington D.C area and Prince Georges County, Maryland serving at-risk populations ranging from children, young adults and senior citizens as an educator, social worker and mental health counselor through educational workshops, counseling and coaching to enhance and improve their quality of life by obtaining the necessary life skills, along with offering lots of heart-centered encouragement and motivation, necessary to effect this type of change for some 30 plus years.
Upon retirement and moving back to the Cincinnati area where she grew up, Mayola began to pursue her personal passion for travel and the outdoors through jogging/walking/hiking and traveling to scenic destinations. She was first introduced to “Yoga” at a Unity Church approximately 18 years ago in Columbus Ohio and fell in love with it! From that point on, and in each city that she has lived or visited, she has carried, in addition to her tennis shoes for jogging and walking, a yoga mat for grabbing a yoga class wherever she might find one. Be it a yoga studio, gym, rec center, YMCA/ lawn/park and even in someone’s home. And she has never turned back. Upon completion of her Foundational and Advanced certification at World Peace Yoga, she learned that there is much more to yoga than just the postures.
