Below are some commonly asked questions in regard to Yoga as a Business.
Is insurance recommended for teaching yoga?
Yes. Whether you are teaching at facility, out of your home, or a yoga studio, it is important to get personal liability insurance. For insurance, talk with your current health/car/home insurance company about providing or check out Yoga Journal’s Liability Insurance.
Is it important to have practitioner’s taking my class fill out a waiver?
Yes. See “Yoga Student Promise” for a sample waiver of liability.
Yoga Student Promise:
As a student of yoga I will give my highest attention to the well being of myself. I understand that if I move with care, intelligence, courage, applied safety and self-awareness, then injury is unlikely. Should injury occur, this facility and all teachers, employees, and affiliates are absolved of all responsibility. I am fully responsible for the outcome of my yoga/exercise/movement practice and participation in classes. I will listen to my body and will be patient with the growth process. I understand that it is recommended that I report any problems or concerns with my doctor or holistic physician. I will keep my teacher informed with any changes.
Is it valuable to have a resume with my yoga training experience?
Yes, not all Yoga Teacher Trainings are the same, so detailing your education in the form of a resume is incredibly valuable. See sample resume.
How much do I charge for a class or private lesson?
This varies greatly and there it is not a general answer. It depends on your expenses, the facility’s budget, type of class, and so on. Once you determine the different factors, you may come up with a rate for your classes.
What are some ideas for accessible yoga rates?

What do I receive upon completion of this program?
You receive a 300-hour certificate from World Peace Yoga. And you may refer to yourself as a “300-hour CYT” for 300-hour Certified Yoga Teacher.
What is Yoga Alliance? Is it necessary to register with Yoga Alliance?
Yoga Alliance is a registry and they recognize individual teachers or schools as being “registered.” Yoga Alliance does not certify, accredit, or validate yoga schools. It is not necessary to register with Yoga Alliance.
What does “RYT” mean?
“RYT” is a Yoga Alliance term. Yoga Alliance recognizes teachers on their website as “registered” or “RYT” for Registered Yoga Teacher.
