Annie Melzer began exploring guided seated meditation and positive mindful visualization at the age of 11 and yoga asana at the age of 19 beginning in an outdoor class next to the Ohio River. With a love of nature and serving humanity, she then began studying Cultural Anthropology exploring multi-cultural global indigenous perspectives related to biodiverse environments and human adaptations, creativity, spirituality, and health and healing. Annie also earned a degree in Philosophy, with focused interest in eastern philosophical practices and knowledge related to meditation and mindfulness. Her interest in indigenous and multi-cultural perspectives led her to pursue a graduate degree in Cultural Anthropology where she worked in areas of family and community medicine, contemporary indigenous language and cultural reclamation and revitalization, and studied relationships between plants and people, primarily foodways, over time and space on the landscape of the earth.
After having her third child, she felt the calling to deepen her yoga practice and chose to study with World Peace Yoga. Annie completed the 300-hour Foundational Yoga Teacher Training and then continued into the 350-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training. While exploring her own healing through the 8 Limbs of Yoga and how she might best serve others, she became an intensive therapeutic embodiment creativity individual and small group coach. Annie enjoys teaching Yoga Basics, Vinyasa Yoga, guides Yoga Nidra, Breathwork, Mindfulness and Meditation practices. Her teaching at World Peace Yoga explores the science of yoga and aspects of embodiment, integrative health, wellness, and a whole person perspective. Annie is grateful and honored to be a part of this World Peace Yoga Community.
