Joe Dispenza defines meditation from the Tibetan language as “to become familiar with.” This means to become conscious of; to become so conscious of your unconscious self that you won’t go unconscious to any thought, behavior, or emotion. When you practice meditation and experience “mind chatter,” this is your brain craving your familiar self. The practice is to observe the thought without putting energy behind the program running in your mind – this is CHANGE. It is a practice of going face to face with yourself and overcoming yourself – letting go of your fear, doubt, guilt, worry, frustration, impatience, and angst to create something new.
When you are…

When you are…

As part of a meditation practice, you may choose an emotion that does not serve you to un-memorize; something that has become part of your identity that no longer belongs in your future. Choose 1 as they are all connected! When you lower the volume to anger, you lower the volume to frustration and so on…move from the past to the present from survival to creation.
Everything was created from nothing. It is in the space of nothingness/quiet/stillness (pure consciousness) where we are able to create a new life and state of being.
“In the Tibetan language, to meditate means “to become familiar with.” Accordingly, I use the term as a synonym for self-observation as well as self-development. After all, to become familiar with anything, we have to spend some time observing it. The key moment to making any change is going from being it to observing it. Another way to think of this transition is when you go from being a doer to a doer/watcher. How can you change from an old mode of operation to a new one unless you can see what the old and new look like? How can you stop doing things one way without knowing what the way looks like? I frequently use the term unlearning to describe this phase of changing…This process of becoming familiar with the self works both ways—you need to :see” the old self and the new self. You have to observe yourself so precisely and vigilantly that you won’t allow any unconscious thought, emotion, or behavior to go unnoticed. Since you have the equipment to do this because of your frontal lobe, you can look at yourself and decide what you want to change in order to do a better job in life.” –Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, Joe Dispenza
