- Low volume in the background, mellow, ambient instrumental, calming. no music is also an option.
- What types of breathing is recommended for a Basics class?
- 4-count breath and ujjayi breath, belly breathing, and 3-part breath are also options
- A posture in a Basics class is typically held for about how many breaths?
- No more than 5-8 breaths.
- What does a teacher balance along with posture demonstrating?
- Observing practitioners and walking around and possibly physically assisting someone with their permission.
- What place does Sanskrit have in a beginner class?
- Only to be used sparingly and always define in English to not overwhelm the students.
- What part of the body do alignment cues start?
- At the seat of the pose.
- What may affect how and what you cue for each pose and what props you use?
- Past injuries, areas that are unstable, flexibility & strength, and body proportion.
- What are three important aspects of giving physical assists?
- With permission, align the practitioner, physically touching them or offering a prop
- Allow the practitioner to melt/relax into the pose, possibly move deeper into the pose, give verbal cues
- Assist the practitioner out of the pose, slowly ease off the practitioner.
- NOTE: view assist more so as an enhancement rather than correcting.
